Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get my Letterboxd export?
Go to letterboxd.com/settings/data and click "Export Your Data." You'll get a ZIP file containing your watched history, ratings, watchlist, and more.
What files does this tool use?
It looks for watched.csv, ratings.csv, diary.csv, watchlist.csv, and reviews.csv in your export ZIP. You can also upload individual CSV files.
How are recommendations generated?
We analyze your rating patterns, genre preferences, and decade distribution. Recommendations can be powered by collaborative filtering APIs (Taste.io, Trakt) or fall back to TMDB-based heuristics. AI enhances the reviews and descriptions.
Is my data sent anywhere?
Your raw export stays local. If AI predictions are enabled, we send only aggregated taste statistics (average rating, top genres, etc.) and movie metadata to generate personalized reviews—never your complete watch history or personal data.
Can I share my results?
Yes! You can share your taste insights, recommendations, and predictions from the results page.
What's "Roast Mode"?
A playful, tongue-in-cheek take on your movie taste. Toggle it on in the taste snapshot section. It's all in good fun.
